Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Downtown/Bayside

One of the worst check-ins I’ve every experienced. I was given so many excuses why my room wasn’t room I can’t even remember them. I arrived super early so I knew early check-in at 9 am wouldn’t be highly possible. But I was able to pay my incidental fee because my room was already paid in full. So I let the host know we were there & to let us know as soon as a room was available. We went to eat breakfast & checked back in with host around noon. Still no rooms so we left the hotel & ran some errands. We returned back to the hotel at 3:30 pm. Now there is an issue with cleaning & still no rooms available. We didn’t get into a room until almost 5 pm which is insane because my room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. I was offered nothing for my inconvenience. Staff didn’t seem to care that we were just sitting in the lobby after a long flight & ready to relax in a room we paid $350 plus a night for. But the location was perfect. Close to everything I wanted to visit. Not to mention close to my son who lived only 10 minutes away. But never again will I waste my money at this location.

On a not so pleasant flight delay, checking into this hotel was the opposite! Front desk employee jahayra was awesome! Friendly fast and thorough. She was so sweet. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and the bartender Tania was also top notch. Super genuine and always attentive. Room was modern and clean but the tv remote did not work and it took over 30 min for tech to come resolve. Not so great at 10pm when you want to relax in bed. All and all very good hotel.

I have several complaints. I initially booked a room and wanted a room with a bay view but booked an incorrect room. I called the hotel to book a room with a view of the bay and was granted a room with a "view". The room was anything but a room with a view, rather it was a room with a view of the solar turbine building. Your description of the room is a bay view, not a partial bay view, and not a view of the solar turbine building with palm trees. I have pictures to prove it. All my wife wanted was a room with a view and we didn't get it. I was so upset. Next, what is the point of being a "diamond" customer. There are no advantages of being a diamond client. Nothing is complimentary. There were no upgrades and nothing special for your "preferred" client base. Your free room is way behind the Marriott. At the Marriott you can use your free room toward a more luxurious room and I don't have to call to book the room. You only provide standard rooms and I have to research for days to finally make something fit. What a disaster!!! I am very disappointed in Hilton. The Marriott and Hyatt credit cards and service are leaps and bounds above yours. I want something done for the lack of service provided for the stay. I paid almost $1,000 to get a room that did not provide the services you mentioned in your description.

No self parking, only valet parking at $50 a night, but you can go in and out as many times as you like. Not a lot of cookware. We had a skillet, maybe two pots. Bed was uncomfortable. Ours was leaning to one side. Should have reported, but we forgot to as we were rushing out. We could also hear running water from the room above, which was pretty loud when they took a shower. Hopefully, the other rooms didn't experience that issue.
